In the year fifteen ninety-nine, a man named William Shakespeare wrote a play called Hamlet. But this was not just any play. This was a play, which because of it's uniqueness and it's ability to hold relevancy even in today's modern world, is still considered to be one of the classic tragedies of all time. When Shakespeare wrote this play, he had really constructed himself a masterpiece, a piece of work which has been able to stand the test of time, and which can be viewed as one of the greatest tragedies ever written. In this paper I will try to uncover the real hamlet. Well, this is true in many cases, but in one case particular, Shakespeare's Hamlet, we see that words can just about say it all. In the tragedy Hamlet by Shakespeare, we see how the character of Hamlet expresses his concerns and feelings towards other characters through soliloquies. Hamlet's words or thoughts expressed as a soliloquy seems to take on a more deep meaningful role. The point that is trying to be made to the readers is made more evident when it is spoken through the mouth of a strong willed character. In Shakespeare's Hamlet, the character of Hamlet speaks his mind through a soliloquy in which he expresses the way he views the world, and the situation with his mother and his uncle. In the soliloquy made by Hamlet lines 133-136" O, that this too, too sullied flesh would melt, Thaw, and resolve itself into a dew, on that the everlasting had not fixed His Canon 'gainst self-sla! The death of a character becomes a common thing in hamlet, and although many people lose their lives as a result of their own self centered wrong doing, there are others whose death are a result of manipulation from the royalty. This is the case of Polonius' family. The real tragedy of Hamlet is not about Hamlet or his family but of the Polonius' family, because their deaths were not the consequence of their own bad actions, but rather by their innocent involvement in the schemes of Claudius and Hamlet. The first character to die in Hamlet is Polonius. Although Polonius often acts in a deceitful way when dealing with Hamlet, it is only because he is carrying out plans devised by the king or queen to discover if Hamlet is really mad. Being the king's Lord Chamberlain, it is his duty to obey the king and queen's wishes and it is this loyalty that eventually proves to be fatal for polonius (Levenson). An example of how Polonius' innocent involvement with the royalty results in hi!
