Population Control
Human population has been increasing since the beginning of humanity. Never had we had to ask ourselves how we should control population, until this last century. I'm sure that even you have noticed a difference since you were a kid. You can notice the difference when you go to schools and or go to the malls and notice there are larger amounts of people there then there was before. A lot of changes have been seen in just one century and this is why we should look into having government participation to control population. Population control is important because by lowering population, you can also lower crime. Cities have been growing tremendously and crowded cities usually lead to higher crime. Controlling population could lower crime (Getis, Judith). Also by lowering crime you would be reducing the use of drugs. I think population control is a big issue, which could help solve other public policy concerns. I do not think the earth is going to be able to with stand! all the people of this world. Some people might not want to take on this global task by themselves, this is why government should participate. There are people who would say that it is impossible to control population. To a lot of people, they do not like it when the government tells them what to do, especially when it involves limiting your family to control population. Giving out economic rewards could be a good way to help population control, yet not be a forced way of doing so. The government could give out economic rewards to people who control population. In other countries this has already been going on and the government gives back money or lowers the taxes of the people who help control population. For example, China gives out tax breaks to people who get sterilized and more taxes to those who have more than one kid (TIME). In the United States, the government could give back some money to people who get sterilized. Also, the government could give out rewards to the doctors who give these operations. This would give these people the incentive to do it. I think this would be a good method to control population because it is optional, not forced. It is an option the people w! government participation, not only can we control population, but we can also increase the quality of human life. e a way to stop the cruelty to human beings who suffer from poverty.
