Courtly Love is the code of behavior that defined the relationship between lovers during Middle Ages. Chivalry and feudalism influenced courtly love. Courtly Love developed during the eleventh and the thirteenth centuries. In courtly love, a man devoted himself to a woman who was married or engaged to another man. Middle Age marriages were almost nothing more than business contracts. Courtly love was basically the only romance in the lives of many people during the Middle Ages.

Guinevere is one of the main woman in the Arthurian literature. She is also one of the most variously portrayed characters. She is the daughter of King Leodegrance of Cameliard by Malory and the daughter of a Roman noble by Geoffrey of Monmouth. Guinevere is the wife of King Arthur. Her name is spelled differently depending on which legend she is in. There are many variations of her name, such as: Guinevere, Guenevere, Guenievre, Gwenhwyfar, Guenhumare, or Ginevra. She is beautiful and desirable. Guinevere, in most legends, has an extra-marital relationship with Sir Lancelot. In some instances she is condemned, according to law, or forgiven outright for her sins.
