Back in the Middle Ages, King Arthur and his people had a different way of life and civilization, then what people have now. Everything from the people's housing, food, value of their money, and festivals are different than how they are now. In the Middle Ages the people did not have the resources and technology that people today have. They had very strict laws and codes that people had to follow. God and their religion were their first priorities. The construction and architecture of the houses and building were very complex and hard to build. Courtly love is the code of behavior that defined the relationship between lovers during the Middle Ages. There are some very important characters that lived during the Middle Ages also. The Middle Ages is an era that is very different than now in many ways. One of the most important figures out of the Middle Ages is King Arthur. He has been known as Lancelot of the Lake or Lancelot du Lac because the Lady of the Lake raised him. He has been known as an adventurous man. In some legends he rescues the abducted Queen Guinevere form Meleagant, and in others he rescues the queen after she is condemned to be burned to death for adultery. Elaine of Astolat loved Lancelot very much. Elaine is the daughter of King Pelles. Lancelot was tricked into sleeping with her. Lancelot and Elaine had a son whose name is Galahad. Lancelot and Guinevere had an affair that causes heartache and destroys King Arthur. Lancelot is a well-known knight. Courtly Love is the code of behavior that defined the relationship between lovers during Middle Ages. Chivalry and feudalism influenced courtly love. Courtly Love developed during the eleventh and the thirteenth centuries. In courtly love, a man devoted himself to a woman who was married or engaged to another man. Middle Age marriages were almost nothing more than business contracts. Courtly love was basically the only romance in the lives of many people during the Middle Ages. d loyalty. Humility is to tell the deeds of others before your own. Helping the poor, the weak, and woman is part of humility. Knights are supposed to value other people before themselves. Largesse is to be generous no matter what and to show mercy to others. Nobility is to follow the duties and virtues of a knight. The service of rightness is nobility. Franchise is to do certain things out of sincerity and not for personal advantages but because it is the right thing to do. All of these things are expected of a knight.
