Take a look at yourself. You're here. That much you know. You pinch yourself. It hurts. Yes, you are here. You can think. Two plus two equals four. You are a conscious being and to whatever degree, a thinking being. Then it's logical to look at yourself in the mirror-warts and all-and ask: "Well, what in the world am I doing here?" Where did Y-O-U come from? You-the conscious one-the thinker. The one who can look out and reason. How did you-the thinking part of you-get here and where are you going? If there is no spiritual purpose for anyone, then we'll all be dead, buried, and forgotten in a few years. And the next generation will come along and find they don't know what life's about either. And so will the next. Death will continue to steal all the cards away from everyone, both from those who had winning and those who had losing hands.
You've heard about the old adage: "Everyone loves a good mystery." People love to watch the great storybook detective come on the scene immediately after the crime has been committed. There are some potential suspects and some ambiguous clues. What's the first point a detective must establish?
God is everything we humans are not and would like to be. We're imperfect. We have little power and our intelligence is limited. Life seldom makes us happy, but sad often. And we decay and die. What, then, would be God's love motive in our lives? To put it in the vernacular, God's purpose would be to give us what we have not got.
We now come face to face with our prime suspect. He is God, the Creator, or Supreme Being. How can we prove God did this-created the human race? Let's go back to the motive. We must ask: Why would God commit such a deed and create human life? What would have been God's motive for putting us on this Earth? Now, a Personage called God claims to have written, in a certain sense, his autobiography. It's the Bible. He tells us all about himself in this book, including his thoughts. We read in this book perhaps the most profound statement ever uttered. It is the basic equation that defines God: "God is love" (John 4:8). One of the attributes of love would have to be concern for others-to give. So God's motive for the deed in question could simply be to share what he has with others. What does God have to share? He has himself! In other words, his spirit mind and his spirit body.
