Legalization of Cannabis
The natural plant, Cannabis, has over twenty five thousand uses, for exampleeverything from construction materials to paper to clothing. Besides these materials it also has other uses such as medicinal and relaxation or recreational purposes. Unfortunately, in the United States we are not allowed to use this plant of many advantages because our government has cannabis listed as a controlled substance that is punishable by law to have in ones possession. This naturally growing plant, which has been used since around the beginning of civilization up until 1937, is now illegal to grow, distribute, or use because a small part of it can be smoked to obtain a state of intoxication.(http://www.natlnorml.org/medical/index.shtml) Although this is only one use of cannabis it is one of the most prevalent in the United States even though it is outlawed and serious penalties are given to those caught. The United States government has declared a massive war against this substance and many other drugs which is commonly referred to as the "Drug War".
