John Steinbeck refers to passages in the bible throughout the Grapes of Wrath. He shows that everyone has a family no matter what, even if he or she is not blood related. Everyone comes together and creates a circle, a circle of life.
Rose of Sharon had a stillborn but she still has milk from her breasts. They go for shelter and see a boy kneeling next to his papa. The man is starving, but can not hold down solid food; Rose of Sharon knows what she has to do and knows what is right. She leans down and lets the man have the milk. As the man drinks a mysterious smile appears on her face.
Rose of Sharon is considered the completion of the life cycle and helps the survival of another. In giving a part of herself to a stranger, she experienced a spiritu
