Abortion: The Right to Choose or The Right to Kill Abortion is defined as the destruction or termination of a fetus while still in the mother's womb. However, abortion is so much more then just the definition. The controversy surrounding it and the consequences which come with preforming such an act are far beyond anything which could ever be defined. Two stances are usually taken in the debate over the moral, ethical and religious issues of abortion. The Pro-Life view which takes the view of abortion being morally, ethically and religiously wrong. Pro-Choice on the other hand believes that abortion should be the choice of the individual faced with the situation based upon their own values and beliefs. These two opposing sides are constantly debating the issues of abortion. They argue over when the life of a person actually begins and who has the right to choose to end an individual's existence. Regardless, of any arguments they may have properly the most heated of them all is should the act of abortion be a legal choi! ce which people should have. Sound's so simple but the act itself plus the issues and controversy surrounding it are anything but simple. Pro-Life believes it is wrong that it is murder and also a sin against God to terminate the fetus. Pro-Choice takes a totally different view, they believe abortion is a right which woman should have to choose based upon their personal values and beliefs. In spite of if you are pro-choice or pro-life you cannot control if some women will have an abortion or not. Abortion is a totally legal act which we cannot restrict, it is a decision that a woman has to make alone, we are just left to hope she makes the correct one. Law, it governs all of our lives tell us what we can and what we can't do and sometimes even what is right and what is wrong. But should government have the power to make abortion legal. Under our current government there is so criminal law restriction abortion in any means. The law leaves having an abortion in the hand of women who may or may not choose if faced with the situation to have an abortion. The woman or teenage girl does not even have to have consent from the father of the child or their parents if over the age of fourteen. The government even provides funding for abortion either in part or full. Our province, Newfoundland provides full funding for abortions be it in a hospital or clinic. Pro-Life activists believe that abortion should not be legal saying it is not ethical or morally right as well they believe it is condemning murder as being right. This may or may not be true but up until 1989 when abortion was not legal in Canada women still chose to hav! The pro-choice argument which states that abortion should and is under the law a choice which women should be able to make based upon their own religious, moral and ethical beliefs and values.
