During this unit I have learned many facts about the second Word War from the textbook, handouts, and stories the class has read. All of which I think are interesting and have a very important lesson to bring to the world, in hopes to prevent another war from happening and to prevent further cruelty to fellow human beings.
First of all I find it very interesting how the whole war began. The very idea of appeasement, in which the United States gave into Hitler's demands just to stay out of war, is disgusting. It seems the United States was so terrified about war after experiencing the first World War. The United States didn't even care about how Hitler was effecting other countries. It seems that maybe if the United States would have been more cautious about Hitler maybe it would have been easier to prevent his crimes against the allies. Especially after seeing what Germany was capable of doing in WWI.
The extermination of the Jews in Germany was a type of discrimination I knew about during the w
War brings out the worst in us and overall I think that the major lesson about this war is to treat all races from all countries equally. None of the wars in history especially this one would never have happened if there wasn't some sort of conflict in the way the we look at each other. It is necessary to be open minded about other's beliefs and ideas to prevent the tragedies of war. Often this does not happen, it is our own human nature that dooms us. Whether it be that power that Hitler gained as he led crowds of angry men to hate the Jews. Or the way the U.S. has never quite treated Japan as an equal compared to other countries. I think this war is a major lesson to the world and this lesson is screams at us when we look at all of the pain it caused the soldiers, civilians, and families involved in WWII, and that lesson is to never let it happen again.
