“I hate quotations.” Ralph Waldo Emerson and I share a common belief regarding quotations. There are many types of quotations in this world: air quotations, documented quotations, and movie quotations. None of these types of quotes are necessary. Another problem with quotes is the misconception that saying an intelligent quote will make you seem smarter, to other people. Quotes said in this regard come across as unoriginal and uneducated. One can learn an entire book of quotes but quite possibly have no idea what the quotes mean. The major flaw in quotes comes down to a simple series of questions. What is the context in which the quote was said? Who said it? Do they know what they are talking about? I was out walking my guinea pig. My guinea pig, Roberta, was on her little harness walking through the grass, occasionally stopping to enjoy some grass. She didn’t have a care in the world. It was a beautiful sunny day last week.
