How Women Have Evolved Throughout The Century

Women have played many roles in various societies throughout history. She has been a wife, a mother, a farmer, a teacher or a volunteer worker. Most women have combined two or more of these roles together.

Throughout the centuries, almost every society has had ideas of what activities are proper for women. Some societies have given women honor, others have considered women less important to men.

Today, women in many countries make at least some decisions about what they will do with their lives. In most parts of our world, a woman can now choose whether she wants a career, whether she wants to marry, and whether she wants to raise children. Women around the world are increasingly challenging society's traditional image of what a woman should be allowed to do.

During the 1840's, married women led a campaign entitling them the right to own real estate under their own name. Women have prevailed, and in 1849 the New York Legislature passed the bill.

Women have shown what they are capable of doing. They've shown how powerful they really are and that they don't need a man to survive. They have accomplished many tasks up to date, whereas about a century ago, they would be persecuted for doing such things. In most parts of the world, women are now aloud to vote, attend formal schooling and earn a degree, but most of all, we can think for our selves and have the freedom of speech. Despite all that women have done and are still doing, sex discrimination still lingers on in today's society. Women have been and still are victimized in many ways. Judging someone on their gender is completely wrong, it's not your physical appearance that should count, what matters most, or should matter most, is the individuals intelligence. Women have definitely evolved throughout the century, and there is telling in what they will fight
