Western SOciety

Western society has come a long way through out history. Living in plush and fertile lands following the prey primitive people, hunting and gathering for existence. There is food and clothing. The basic tools of this stage in stone aged history are the two most easily obtainable objects: rocks and sticks. As the people become more intelligent, they invent such things as the bow and arrow, spears, etc. Coincidentally, this is also the stage in which the minor concept known as war first began. One day someone gets tired of running after his lunch, and decides to have some fruit, drops the seeds on the ground, comes back next year, and look and behold, a small fruit tree has appeared. He then tries it with other seeds, and gets similar results. Agriculture is born. New forms of technology are developed to aid in crop yield, and this sparks the next stage industry.

The cities are larger, days are shorter, and the streets are filthier. As people become more educated, the level of technology increases exponentially, and now there is a new presence on looming over society, curiosity. Driven by curiosity, people are to encounter exploration they discover better technology. As a result, we entered the Technological stage. We


now find ourselves, humans stretching the limits of this portion of history. Where will we bring human kind? The future of mankind is not carved in stone, so to speak. The future is as yet undefined, but I can give you a general idea of what could happen.

More over as we look on forward to the stars, we ask ourselves does the future hold any validity for human kind? Some could answer that with only time will tell. And on the other hand many answer that with religious insight. What better is it for us to have faith and technology not as enemies but as allies, side by side? Although civilization can expose people to new pathogens, cultural progress also has an obvious countervailing effect: it can pro vide tools medicine, sensible city planning, educational campaigns about sexually transmitted diseases to fight the encroachments of disease.

Education has had great improvement in history. International educational comparisons have been subjects of growing academic enthusiasm and criticism. Teachers have been seated in the middle of all the proverbial debate. Between parents and politicians, the undying battle on what is best for the student for decades. America's poor overall showing has sparked calls for adoption of a national curriculum and national standards for school tests. In comparison to other over achieving nations, framework in education was general foundation. On a broad European scale, countries such as Britain, France, and Germany found each other in competition for math and science scores. Sweden for instance, tested in the 1980's and recently pulled above average testing levels.

On a darker note, war has plagued almost every continent ha suffered from enslavement and devastation; it has become a common heritage unfortunately shared by all of human kind.
