After the longest semester of my college career, and endless hours of Learning and Teaching homework, I think I've come up with my limited and juvenile definition of being a teacher. Although the fact still remains, that I will not become a teacher, I believe that a teacher is a person who has certain characteristics, somewhat like a parent. According to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language the word teacher means, "one who teaches; especially, a person hired by a school to teach".
A teacher is hired firstly to teach and instruct his/her pupils. Their instructions are to relay textbook material to students in order to prepare them for the following grade and most importantly preparing them for the future. They realize that book knowledge must be relied to the students, but they also know that their job is not l

With all this glamour that we as students, parents, and other onlookers witness, we fail to see the stress, pain, sorrow, and disappointment that a teachers feels. We fail to understand that similarly to parents when a students fails in school or in the world it has an impact on the teacher. Mr./Mrs. put hours of self into that child and just like a parent it hurts to see that child not develop to its full potentials.
P.S. I'd like to thank all my teachers for their undying and unselfishness throughout my limited years in school. It is now that I truly understand and appreciate all that was done and sacrificed on my behalf. Once again I say "Thank you".
