Through reading the play Noises Off, one is able to see the characters trying to present the play Nothing On. The action takes place in numerous theatres, were the audience could see behind the scene of a true theatre production. Noises Off was written by a British author name Michael Frayn. This play is a very humorous and outrageous play, were each character in Noises Off plays another character in Nothing On. In this paper, I shall analysis the plot of this play, the characters, and the roles that each character plays.

The play Noises Off takes place on Monday, January 14 in Weston-Super-Mare Grand Theatre (Frayn, pg.4). As for Nothing On, it takes place in the living room of the Brent's country home on a Wednesday afternoon (Frayn, pg.4). During the play Noises Off, Dotty Otley born in Malta, goes with Garry Lejeune. She won the Rose Bruford Medal for effort. Miss Otley seems to always forget what she is supposed to be doing in the play. She can't figure out weahter to take the sardines and newspaper out or leave them and keep the receiver on or off the hook. From the play, it could probably be said that, Dotty is not unde

Brooke Ashton plays the role of Vicki in Noises Off. Mrs. Ashton is probably best known as the girl wearing nothing but good, honest, natural froth in the Haupt bahnhofbrau lager commercial (frayn, pg.10). Brooke is a very not bright, dingg, and beautiful young lady. Sometimes when reading the play, you would think she doesn't know weahter she coming or going. If you ask her a question, she acts as if she can't comprehend. Take for instance when Lloyd says, "Brooke are you in", she replies, "In", then Lloyd replies, "Are you there", and she replies again, "What". It's really not that hard to know if you are participating in a certain part when acting, which goes to show how unintelligent Brooke is.

One the other hand his wife Flavia is very consistent, due to knowing the differences of the arrangements in her house. For example, when she enters the bedroom she sees that they're Irish linen sheets are off her bed. Flavia has the same feelings about coming home as Phillp does. She wants to spend a romantic at home along with her husband. Once she notices the other people in her house, she wants to who those creatures are. Belinda Bliar plays the role of Flavia in Noises Off. Being on the stage since the age of four, Belinda has come to be a very confident actor, who likes everything to be right. Bliar always want to be in everyone business and the peacemaker. Even though Fredrick was cheating on her, she was very affectionate towards him. She tries to keep everyone on a good foot, also. Like when Lloyd became so stressed out he started drinking a bottle of whisky. Belinda was the one who took the bottle out of his hand and told him to stop drinking. Taking a whi!

Lloyed Dallas is the director in Noises Off. Mr. Dallas read English at Cambridge, and stagecraft at the Salisbury A Commonwealth Scholarship, which took him to Princeton. Since then Lloyd has directed plays in most parts of Britain, winning the South of Scotland Critics Circle Special Award in 1968. Lloyd is the person who keeps everyone together, on the right point, and sleeps around on others. He first had an affair with Poppy and then he left Poppy and had an affair with Brooke. In conclusion to this, Lloyd tries to dodge Poppy. Lloyd returns to the play during the second Act, to prevent Brooke form leaving the company, because he doesn't have enough time to fine and rehearse another Vicki for Nothing on. During Act II, Lloyd shows up with a bottle of whisky and some money for flowers in order to help him deliver Brooke with a fading "bed side manner." Lloyd can have a very nasty attitude sometimes too. Especially when Garry kept talking to him and wouldn't get of!

Assistant Stage Manger is Poppy Norton-Taylor. Mrs. Taylor is from a family found more often on the Boards of leading companies, than on the Boards with touring companies.(Frayn, pg.12) In Noises Off, she controls the cues and she has an affair with Lloyd. Poppy becomes pregnant when having an affair Lloyd. Which became a very bad decision because Lloyd has another affair with Brooke. Now, that Lloyd has started liking Brooke, Poppy gets very upset that he isn't paying her any attention. All the attention is going to Brooke, now. Poppy does a good job at giving the cues when time to give them. She makes sure everyone is in the right position at the right time, so when then the audience is watching the play everyone can be seen and the people won't miss a character acting.
