Lincoln's address at Gettysburg has proved to be one of the most important and influential pieces of literature in our nation's history. Lincoln delivered this on November 19, 1863. This document has become recognized around the world as the epitome of the English Language and a key document in American history. This document is a poetic speech about a war that was fought by our fathers and brothers against our fathers and brothers. One of our greatest Presidents gave this address at on of the important battlefields in the war. This foundation needed to be repaired. This country went though its biggest test during a war with itself. The piece of literature is so great because it helps depict the battles and sacrifices our own countrymen made to make this country great. Lincoln's address gave the honor, respect, and truth that the war needed to have.

Not only is this speech an important historical document for Americans, but a great literary piece for the English language and for the world. These words were pretty short, but some of the most important ever said by an American. Lincoln seemed to know the importance of his words as he said
