TV Shaping Reality
Over the past fifty years the television has been one of the most influential sources of information in the American culture. The TV has brought us news, movies, music, fashion, and art along with countless other things that has helped shape our culture. The words we speak and the cloths we wear are dictated by what we see on television. Growing up with the influence of MTV in my life I have seen many fashion trends start in videos and end up on every kid in high school. The early nineties were ruled by the Seattle "grunge" look that was made famous by the rock stars of the day. Today the hip-hop slang can be heard on any street in the United States. Words such as "bomb" and "fat" have taken on a completely different meaning. These trends are possible because so many kids watch MTV and want to emulate the musicians they see on television.
