The Case for Christ

(Grand Rapids: Harper, Collins, Zondervan, 1998).

The Case for Christ is a journalist's personal investigation of the evidence for Jesus. Is there credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God, or was he crazy? Lee Strobel, a once professed atheist, and now Christian, examines a dozen experts with doctorates from schools like Cambridge, Princeton, and Brandeis who are recognized authorities in their own fields. Strobel asks us many things like, is the New Testament reliable? And is there proof that Jesus existed outside of the Bible? Strobel, a former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune, compares biblical truths with his case experiences. Strobel's comparisons force the reader to ask; What is my verdict in the case for Christ?

Nonbelievers today claim that they would believe if they had proof. Nonbelievers want substantial evidence before they will accept Christ or the Bible as real. The Christian community looks at these statements fearfully, for not to accept Christ as real condemns one to an eternity in Hell. Realizing the severity of this, Strobel probes meticulously for evidence for the truth of biblical Christianity with the help of many scholars and his own mas

Strobel covers every angle of skepticism. He asks every question in his search for the answers. Strobel ends up with unbiased replies from the nations leading scholars, and in the end has more proof of Christ's claims than ever imagined.

Many people ask was Jesus crazy when he claimed to be the Son of God? The only way to prove this was to find the psychological evidence (Strobel ,144). Skeptics suggest that Jesus was a raving madman. Strobel interviewed Gary R. Collins PH.D with masters in Psychology to evaluate the actions and emotions of Christ to see if in fact he was disturbed. Disturbed individuals will frequently show inappropriate depression, or they might be vehemently angry, or perhaps they're plagued with anxiety. But look at Jesus he never demonstrated inappropriate behavior. Christ certainly got angry at times. But, his anger was a healthy kind of anger at people taking advantage of the downtrodden by lining their pockets at the temple. He wasn't just irrationally ticked off because someone was annoying him; this was a righteous reaction against injustice and the blatant mistreatment of people.
