The mind is a place where all of our thoughts, actions, and desires are born. The mind is very complex and intriguing. I believe that as mental health professionals learn more and more exactly how complex the mind is, the more they learn how complex the disorders of the mind are. I chose this particular chapter because I’ve always been very fascinated with the mind and what’s going through people minds when they display abnormal behaviors. As the awareness of the diversity of "normal" sexual behaviors widened, the definition of abnormal behavior has narrowed. There are three main types of sexual disorders that are recognized by the DSM-IV.

One group of sexual disorders is known as sexual dysfunction, which is a loss or impairment of the ordinary physical responses of sexual function. For men it is known as erectile disorder or impotence, which is the continuous inability to achieve or keep an erection. For women, it is called female sexual arousal disorder or frigidity, which is the continuous inability to become sexually excited or to reach orgasm. Occasional problems in this area for men and women are normal, but are considered serious when enjoyment of sexual relations becomes impaired and happens frequently or constantly. Premature ejaculation is another form of sexual dysfunction that occurs when a man ejaculates with minimal stimulation or before, during, or shortly after penetration and before he and/or the other person wishes to.
