"Historical Significance" is an idea of how important a certain subject, person, or act is to that time and in some circumstances the future. In other words historical significance is the who, what, when, where, why and how of this subject, person, or act.

Part B) Write and essay on the top three choice's from page.

The 3 topics I chose as having the greatest historical significance during the high middles ages, were chosen for their implication's they had on their present time and the future. The first of these was the rise in Christianity, although this wasn't a topic on the paper I strongly feel that this was one if not thee greatest of all outcomes of the high middle ages. Christianity played a major role throughout the Middle Ages in society and politics. The Middle Ages, classified from 600 AD to 1350 AD, was significantly effected by Christianity because of the impact it had on the daily lives of people of the time. The beginning of the Early Middle Ages, after the Fall of Rome in 476 AD and the period known as the Dark Ages, the reorganization of the empire brought a desire for faith and religion, primarily Christianity. This trend of Christian importance was apparent until 1350, when the Black Death caused the end of a

Corruption was cleansed by new clerical laws, in addition to the canon law, that banned simony, clerical marriages, and immorality in the church. Christianity also influenced art, literature, and education. Art and architecture were ways to demonstrate Christian belief through divine cathedrals, paintings of biblical scenes, and portraits of popes. Another way Christianity was used was by the Emperor's using Christianity as justification for wars, and they gained the support of the people by utilizing Christian beliefs. Christianity was always present in the Middle Ages, and it changed concepts and faith for all.

The second choice I made for the greatest historical outcomes of the high Middle Ages was the crusades. The early crusades broke new grounds for the power of the Church. It gave the Pope the highest order of command and brought about new religious vows. The crusade was a holy war, which differed from earlier wars against the enemies of Christendom in that it was waged by command of the pope Until this time a Christian soldier had to do penance for any violence in order to reduce the time he would spend in purgatory before going to heaven. Violence was considered a necessary evil, but nevertheless still evil. Popes Gregory VII and Urban II changed that. They said that an act of warfare against the infidel, i.e. the Muslims, was in itself an act of penance, and if a Christian were to lose his life so d
