Women's Liberation Aims to Free Men, Too

In the past decades, there have been changes that revolutionized the lives of many different ethnic and minority groups within America. Prior impressions molded during our early years of school and everyday life have led us to believe certain preconceived characteristics of women and minorities. Various answers and solutions have arisen from the suffrage of many ethnic and minority groups. The desire for freedom was elevated because of oppressing discrimination of many groups. Thus, clashes emerged not only with opposing groups, but also within the accepted structure of life. This paper will identify and explore some typical stereotypes about women based on the document analysis, " Women's Liberation Aims to Free Men, Too ". It also explores modifications that are necessary for women to liberate from injustices. It explores certain challenges facing women and, ideally, the improvement on society through liberation.

The first major hurdle to overcome listed within this article is to deviate from what we have learned throughout history. The information taught throughout history is narrow-minded in regards to specific gender roles and races. Thus, in order to achieve success in dealing with the issue of liberation we must lear


The next myth listed in this paper dealt with the moral structure of women. The belief stated women are better suited for moral issues due to the general make up of women. However, this document stated the reason for better morals in women was that of a power issue. Women seek to advance peace rather than power. Therefore, women with the desire in mind for peace will effectively make decisions that ultimately end in non-violent measures.

There is also a connection made in this paper that intertwined the different movements into one. The movements together would build a foundation of different people necessary to achieve success in all movements regardless of race, gender or disability.

During the early 1970's, myths and gender stereotypes limited the liberation of women. The rights for equality were distorted by many beliefs or ideas. The public perception that surrounded one myth was that women were biologically inferior compared to men. Another myth stated women were respected as equals with society. Both perceptions were inaccurate according to this document.
