Kiss of The spider Woman VS. Tartuffe

What lies beneath a true friendship? Many similarities as well as differences are found between the two plays, the "Tartuffe" by Mollier and the "Kiss of a Spider woman" by Puig, that deal with such an intricate friendship. The authors of the plays introduce two deceitful characters, which are Tartuffe and Molina. Moreover, who are accustomed to use dishonesty to reach a particular goal, by a famous form of friendship? Also, in the process, force others to test their true character by using different means of action and phrase. However, the deceitful men both worked in mysterious ways. In addition, the settings of the plays were contrary to one another, one being a "home", and the other a "cell". Furthermore, symbolism is practically evaded in "Tartuffe" but greatly emphasized in the play of "Kiss of a Spider woman"

In "Tartuffe", the main character is named after the play, who is a complete imposture. Tartuffe pretends to be a man of God and holy nature, who deceived his way into a hospitable home. Oregon, the head of the household, is rather naive to believe this man, even above his own family. A family who discovered Tartuffe's clandestine motives, which could ruin their entire life, yet they had difficulty persua


ding Oregon's innocent mind. In a "Kiss of a Spider woman" the deceitful character is Molina. Molina is convicted for corrupting a male minor. He is a homosexual man, who treasures watching, as well as imagining himself in several of films, in order to avoid any form of stress. Authorities bargained with Molina for his early release from prison, by the means of deceit.

Furthermore, symbolism is avoided in the play with Tartuffe, but is significantly used in Molina's character. The title of the play "Kiss of a Spider woman" is used in the play to immortalized the main character Molina. In his early childhood, while at work with his mother, Molina grew accustomed to watching various of films on the Cinema Screen. He memorized every line, word, and song, of every movie he ever dared to watch. This helped him cope with his problems in life and work. Molina brought his experience of comfort in the prison walls. Valentine even learned of some of the films, which Molina pictured himself in. One was about Aurora; she was a beautiful actress, who in turn died for her lover in the end. Another film was with Spider woman's kiss of death. She ends up stealing one's breath, and they fly away to the gates of heaven to be with god. Molina used these two films in the last act of the play, by picturing himself in both of them at ones. He pretended!

Also, circumstances led people surrounding the two disloyal men, to take action and force to reveal their treachery. Oregon's wife felt restless and infuriated with Tartuffe's harassing behavior; therefore, realized the answer to her troubles was to blatantly show her husband, what she tried so hard to face. She hid Oregon under a table, and waited patiently for Tartuffe's arrival to her kitchen. The authorities, in
