Movie Review-Happy Gilmore

The main character of this movie is a character named Happy Gilmore. The movie begins with Happy describing his past life and how he is into hockey. He also talks about how his father is also obsessed with hockey, how his mother left them because of that, and how his father died by getting hit in the head with a puck. Happy developed a short fuse because of this, which is showed by him hitting a kid on the head with a hammer and the fact that he set a record in jr. hockey for trying to stab someone with a skate. Shooter McGavine is the bad guy in the movie. He is a well-known pro golfer who is the leading pro money winner when Happy joins the tour. He gets jealous of him and tries to get him kicked off the tour by setting him up. Chubs is Happy's mentor in the movie. He discovers Happy's power at a driving range and enters him in the Waterbury Open. He shows up later in the movie to teach Happy to putt so that he can win his grandmother's house back. Happy's grandmot!

her took in Happy when his father died and raised him. She is the reason he joined the tour because she has not paid her taxes in 10 years and lost her house and belongings. Virginia Bennett is the Public Relations person for the tour and ends up helping

Happy uses imagery toward the end of the movie to help him with his putting. He imagines his girlfriend with lingerie and two pictures of beer, his grandmother playing the slots and winning, and a midget on a tricycle. This is his "happy place" which is understandable, except for the midget that leaves questions. The reverse happens at one point in the final tournament. He pictures his girlfriend and his grandmother making out with Shooter. He gets all fired up and throws another fit by smashing the ground with his club and then throwing it. He uses positive imagery again before he makes his final putt, but this time he sees Chubs who has died and it gives him the motivation to win the tournament.

The first incident with Happy and Shooter happens after that tournament in the bar. Shooter tries to talk Happy into quitting the tour and Happy starts to get ticked off. Happy tells Shooter that he is now on the tour to make money and to "kick his ass". Shooter responds with, "I'd like to see you try". He means on the golf course, but Happy thinks he means for real and he breaks a bottle on he bar and sticks it in Shooters face.

Happy behave while he is on the tour. She also becomes his girlfriend in the middle of the movie.

he ball in the hole, walks up to they guy, rips hi
