Wuthering Heights

When Emily Bronte died in 1848, she was hardly known around the world as a

successful author. There are still large portions of her life that people know very little

about (Benvenuto, I). Emily was born in Thornton, England on July 30, 1818 (Magill 56),

to Reverend Patrick Bronte and Maria Branwell Bronte (Emily Bronte." A Chronology. 1).

Two years after Emily's birth, her father was appointed curate of Haworth, a small village

on the moors ("Emily Bronte." Emily 1). Here, Emily spent much of her youth. Her place

of residency in Haworth later became the Bronte Museum ("Emily Bronte". Emily 1).

Both of Emily's parents accelled in literature. Her mother successfully published an

early age. In 1846, Emily and her two sisters, Charlotte and Anne, published twenty-one

poems together ("Emily Bronte". Emily 1). The volume was titled Poems by Currer, Ellis,
