What is LSD? LSD is a very potent mood-altering chemical, which was discovered in 1938 by Dr. Albert Hofmann. LSD is manufactured from lysergic acid, which is found in ergot, a fungus that grows on rye and other grains. The most commonly known name for LSD is "acid". LSD is odorless and colorless with somewhat of a bitter taste, which is usually ingested through the mouth. A few ways in which LSD can be sold is tablet form, capsules, or in a liquid form. The most common way in which LSD is sold is "blotter acid", which is where the chemical is stamped on small very colorful sheets of paper. LSD users refer to their psychedelic experience as a "trip", and to acute adverse reactions as a "bad trip." Users may experience panic, confusion, suspicion, anxiety, and loss of control.
