Michael played basketball for Roslyn High School and at 6' 7" in the tenth grade he was considered a giant. He was one of four children in a family that did a lot of traveling. When he had graduated from high school, he had already been to forty-eight states, Canada, Mexico, and five European countries; and by the time he started Med-School, he had been to all of Europe, North Africa, and North America. He is considered by himself to be an accomplished traveler. For his career, Michael was convinced that he would become a writer. He proceeded to attend Harvard, majoring in English. The courses proved to be difficult, especially in English, in which he had b
arely maintained a C. The teachers were very analytical of his writings and were not very encouraging towards his choice of a career. This proved to be very disconcerting to him and he decided to test the English department. In a bold move, Crichton plagiarized a George Orwell essay and retyped it as his own. If he got caught, he faced expulsion from Harvard. However, he reworded the paper well enough that his teachers did not notice the similarities between his report and the George Orwell essay. Although Michael Crichton escaped from the whole ordeal unscathed, albeit with a B-, he became convinced that the English Classes at Harvard were far too difficult for him and he changed his major to anthropology. He went on to finish his years at Harvard with a major in anthropol!
