Alcohol is one of the nations' biggest controversies. The Law states you will not be in possession of alcohol until you are the age of 21. Yet so many people under the age of 21 possess and consume it. Some believe we should have the right to do whatever we want. Some believe that people under the age of 21 are not responsible enough to handle the effects alcohol has on your body. Those same people believe you are not responsible enough to be drinking it period. The one thing that both sides agree on is that people will drink alcohol no matter what the federal government does to outlaw the possession and consumption of it.
In this controversy there is two sides, the Pro-alcohol side, and the Anti-alcohol side. The anti-alcohol side has a huge following of mothers, authorities, and other groups that protest the use of alcohol. They have an extremely strong arguments such as it impairs your ability to make decisions,
it ruins your body, and obviously, its against the law. The anti-alcohol group pretty well knows banning alcohol all together is close to impossible.
Their real fight is with underage drinking. Underage drinking is the major problem with alcohol. As long as it is available, underage people will get their hands on it one way or another. This is what the anti-alcohol group really tries to pinpoint. Controlling underage drinking has been a problem for many years and the only way to stop it is to increase the punishment for people who do get caught in possession of alcohol who are underage. Yet that still does not do the trick. It is an uphill battle to stopping underage drinking. This is where the anti-alcohol group says the only way to stop it is to ban alcohol altogether. But it's happened before and we all know what happened with that. So that option is basically thrown out the window.
