No one knows where Hinduism was started or who started it. Their oldest written documents, the Vedas, were first copied onto paper in 1000 B.C., they had however existed orally long before that time. Hinduism is thought to have originated from the Vedas. Hinduism has changed greatly since it was first practiced, there are now different sects, also known as denominations, and new beliefs have developed. There are still many things connected between the different sects of Hinduism, their basic believes are what ties them together.

Hinduism teaches that the individual soul of all living bodies, including animals, was part of the creator spirit, Brahma. They believe that each souls job and wish is to eventually return to Brahma. No soul can return to Brahma, however until beco

A funeral is held when the body of the dead person is cremated; when a person dies, their body is wrapped in a cloth and taken away for cremation. At a funeral no food or refreshments are served because Hindus believe that death and anything involving food must be kept separate.

Veda: The Veda is the oldest of all Hindu books. Veda means divine knowledge. The Veda was composed between 1200 BC and 500 BC, and is composed of three sections:

The first and highest level is the Brahmin, which means Brahman but is spelled different to avoid confusion with the voice of Brahma, Brahman. Brahmin comes from his head and are to be the voice of Brahma. Many are teachers and keepers of the religion because they are the priestly caste. However, today many are also involved in government and businesses.
