In 1900-1920 14.5 million immigrants came to America. The current rate of growth is 2.7 million people per year; the U.S. population is already growing too fast. Many Americans are becoming troubled by immigration, and they have a good reason to feel that way. Immigration is bad for America. Many people who live in areas heavily settled by immigrants stress the financial burden on local and state budgets, which must carry most of the cost of Medicare and other public services that immigrants receive.
