Child Sexual Abuse
Child Sexual Abuse- Engagement of a child in sexual activities in which a child is developmentally unprepared and cannot give consent (Definition of . . .",1). This act includes rape, date rape, domestic violence, sexual assault, harassment, incest, and sexual molestation. On average a child abuser abuses 117 children before they are caught ("Sex Offenders", 6). Not all of the cases involving child sexual abuses are documented because most of the victims don't know or believe that they have been abused. As sexually abused teens grow up they are faces with many questions of why it happened or what they did wrong. Sexual abuse is the violation perpetrated by someone with power over someone who is vulnerable, mostly children under the age of 16 since they are not sexually developed yet. Not only does abuse involve sexual penetration but this also includes sexual touching, oral and anal sex, the exposing of the child, including prostitution and/or pornography ("Definition of . . .", 1). With this abuse some victims may feel that they have been violated physically, verbally, and emotionally. Many people are often confused with the term "Child Sexual Abuse." Many times there are myths about what happens or why it happened. M
"Emotional Impact Following the Legal Process." The common reaction to those that have been abused is the fact that they are promiscuous children or the fact that they were children initiating sex with adults. That is not the case. After someone has been abused, they lose trust and "stay in the closet." That is not the case, it is more serious than that. Most children both males and females commit crimes, attempt suicide, do drugs, and more often have unprotected sex more often because of the feelings of that is all that they are good for (Delgado, Gisella, 6). Not only does the child have to go through the drama and pain of the abuse they have to go through the name calling from people who don't know the truth about what happened.
