Inspiring authors

Long ago when asked "what do you want to be when you grow" many things filled my mind. A fireman, an actor and a doctor all seemed like heroic careers that I would pursue. But now as my Freshman year of college comes to an end, a more realistic answer is expected. But is there a job out there more heroic than all of the super hero dreams I've had as a five year old? Yes, there is, a writer. I aspire to be a writer because I think that creating ideas and recording them is one of the greatest accomplishments of mankind. To share stories, fables and personal experiences with people all across the world is amazing.

Because there are different forms of writing, there is a wide variety to inspirations and role models. There are poets, fiction and non fiction authors, biographers and playwrights, which all vary in many ways. For example, Thomas Dylan can make his readers feel exactly what he was feeling at the moment of his writings, Henry Thoreau can take a persons view on society and change it to a more simplistic one and Anthony Burgess can make people realize the possible future of a tarnished today. Because of there writing abi

The greatest gift in the world, is an introduction to the world of books. Books allow readers to explore their own imagination and that's exactly, what fiction author Anthony Burgess did with his book A Clock Work Orange. This is book is most notable for Burgess "made-up" language, a cross of slang and Russian. By having a unique and somewhat daring style, an author is made notable and remembered always. Although he has a violent and vicious style, the description in A Clockwork Orange is life like. Burgess over all has a "savage satire on the distortions of the single and collective minds" (New York Times) making him an inspiration.

lity and talent, these men are my inspirations to be a writer.

Now when asked "what do you want to be when you grow" I will have a simple answer, a writer. With many fields to explore as well styles it will be up to me to create a story or a poem for others enjoyment. I aspire to be something great, like the three writers who I admire. With all the influences and talents from these role models combined I will have enough creativity and motivation to further myself in this field.
