A detailed Summary of Sexual Mutilation

When will sexual mutilation of females around the world stop? This type of circumcision (mutilation) is a violation of human rights in its purest form. Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is practiced in the Middle and Far East, and over twenty-six countries in Africa. FGM is also preformed in Sudan, Somalia, Northern Kenya, parts of Ethiopia, and along the Red Sea coast (Hosken-feminist.com, mutilation). There are a couple antimutilation groups that are sending people out to educate these people on the risks and problems that come along with FGM. As we educate more people around the world about how risky the procedure is there will be a better chance of stopping FGM before it becomes even more popular in the U.S. Too many young females are dying because FGM was preformed on them and there was a complication.

What is Female Genital Mutilation? There are four levels of FGM, circumcision, clitoridectomy, intermediate infibulation, and infibulation. The first level is circumcision, where the operator removes only the skin-hood, which covers the clitoris. Most of the labia minora, the clitoris, and the skin-hood are removed in clitoridectomy. Intermediate infibulation assures that most of the sexual nerve endings that react to foreplay

In conclusion, if there is nothing done soon about these young females dying, more and more will die, including babies and sometimes the mother. Even though these women live in very different environments dose not mean they do not have rights to their own bodies. Hopefully these anti-mutilations groups will do enough to get FGM stopped in the U.S. and around the world. As more people learn about this circumcision (mutilation), more people will hopefully help in someway to fight FGM and have it stopped. These women and young girl should not ever have to go through so much excruciating pain in their whole lives.

The whole mutilation is completed in about twenty minutes and usually costs about five dollars, which is pretty cheap to see your daughter in some much horrifying pain. The cutter is usually from a family of cutters who have been mutilating children for decades (mutilation). FGM cause many problems to the female body. It causes scaring within the vagina, which causes an obstruction during childbirth that may kill both the baby and mother. It can also cause infertility from infection and tetanus. Very painful intercourse is another result of FGM as well as urinary and menstrual problems. FGM needs to be stopped very soon because it is causing many unnecessary deaths of unborn babies and children.
