Isolation 2

Isolation occurs in many forms and affects everyone. It can cause great pain and suffering or it can result in triumph. These three examples I feel illustrate the different types of isolation perfectly." Day of the Butterfly" is written by Alison Munro and illustrates the isolation of a young girl named Myra, who is depend on by her brother. My next example is written by Doris Lessing its called "The Tunnel" which shows the intentionally brought on isolation of a young boy who separates himself from his family and friends. Another case that fits the topic of isolation is the segregation of a young high school student who found himself in utter seclusion and with no friends. He had no one to turn to and no one seemed to care that isolation was causing a frightening spiral into depression and desperation. He eventually committed suicide this shows the grave effects of extreme isolation.

Isolation is a double-edged sword. On one side there is the possibility of triumph and the realization of ones physical and mental capabilities adversely isolation can cause tremendous pain and suffering. In the story "Day of the Butterfly" and Danny's Suicide the type of isolation had negative consequences. If both of them had felt loved and felt as if they fit in perhaps their lives would have been more fulfilling. Self-induced isolation is what helped Jerry achieve his goal without him forcing himself to be isolated he would never have achieved his goal. As a result of his segregation he found out what his physical and mental abilities were.

A real life example of isolation is Danny's story. Danny's case was not unlike Myra's in that it showed that isolation can cause insurmountable pain and loneliness. Danny a local Edmonton high school student found that he could not make friends or even associate wi
