Within the film Looking for Richard, Al Pacino takes the works of William Shakespeare and tries to make it more understandable to today's society. Pacino says, " are goal is to reach an audience who normally would not pay attention to these type of plays." Pacino attempts to pull together a cast that can help to explain the historical background, the language spoken within the play, and many more of the confusing topics related with Shakespeare work. This film shows the amazing play structure of Richard the III and also the behind the scenes making of this play. The actors struggle to perform the play in a more understanding manor and it shows their long struggle. When looking at this film an important factor to focus on is the casting of such actors within the film. By using such famous names for the film will make audiences more attentive to the actual story being told.

Through this film we see Al in many different fashions. This is due to the fact that he had previous agreements with other movies which made the production of this movie be put on hold from time to time. Yet, during the off time of the film Al still studied and worked on it in his spare time. Pacino first made his realization to the fact that these words could better be understood during his tour of college campuses in the late 70's. Pacino said, " when I first said I was going to read the works of Shakespeare students were hesitant to listen." He began to talk very informally about the words of Shakespeare and then when he would read an phrase they were able to relate it more to their own lives.
