The Last Emperor was the next movie that I chose two watch. I can remember seeing the movie box on the shelf in the same video store that I still go to since I was a young boy, but for some reason I had never checked it out to view. That was a big mistake. This movie was one of the best movies I have ever seen, a little bit depressing but very good. It was kind of hard to follow the plot, there always seemed like a different situation was taking place. That is probably the reason why it captured my attention through the whole film. It really makes you feel sorry for the emperer. This movie was better than Seven Years in Tibet. Although in a way I am glad that I had not seen The Last Emporer when I was a young boy, because I would not have gotten the full effect or understanding out of it. As a three year old boy the emporer is taken from his mother on his way to the forbidden city where he is to be throned. As he enters the empresses room she is on her death bed. She explains her situation to the boy, but he really has not a clue what is happening in his life at this point. She goes on to say that men are not let out after dark in the forbidden city. This seemed strange to me, they really did not
