Gun control is a very controversial issue. I firmly believe that the distribution of guns should be controlled. There are over 20,000 murders per year and in approximately 62% of murders, guns were used in the commission of the crime. There is indeed a problem with gun violence and everyone must work together to prevent it. Statistics show that guns are the number one weapon used for murder and suicide. Guns are second only to auto accidents as the leading cause of death due to injury. Gun violence is mainly the result of people being drunk, angry, careless or depressed and this is why we must take the guns out of their hands. In most situations death would not be a result if guns weren’t available to be used. Public health organizations feel that the best way to curb a public health problem is through prevention and that’s how I feel.
