Saddam Hussein
Oil plays an important role in the lives of Americans. In its crude form it is near useless to the average American, but after it has been refined into gasoline, oil is something they cannot live without. It is used to power planes, boats, trucks, and automobiles. However, over the past years the price of gasoline has significantly increased, causing the people to question the government's competency in regulating gas prices. In turn, the government relays the blame of the people to a money greedy Middle Eastern leader, Saddam Hussein. In Western society he is notorious for his harsh punishments and the invasion of Kuwait. Operation Desert Storm can easily be credited to Hussein alone. He is just a leader trying to improve the quality of life for his country? The profit from the oil industry helps his country ascend to the greatness that he feels it deserves. As the leader of Iraq, his foremost duty is to that of the country, instead of fo! All over Iraq, thousands of portraits of Saddam Hussein decorate the walls of tiny shops and buildings. Dressed in a military uniform, an Arab robe, a three-piece suit, or a black leather coat, these portraits of Hussein serve as constant reminder of him. Even monuments and palaces are erected in his name. To many Westerners it would appear that Hussein is tightening his grip towards a dictatorship. Yet, few realize what he is trying to do for his
