Gun Control

As of this moment, right now, millions of dollars are being spent attempting to improve our nations "gun control." Gun control in the United States is the topic of a big debate that has been going on for quite a while. Should American people be allowed to keep firearms in their houses? The ones who say "yes" point out that it is in their constitutional rights to do this. The nay sayers state that firearms are already causing a huge problem in our nation. President Bush, who is against keeping firearms, supports his argument with a strong fact: " For every fatal shooting, there are roughly three non-fatal shootings." This proves that deaths and gun wounds are both areas of concern for American people. Some predict that if citizens were not able to keep concealed guns in their house, then there would be a huge drop in the amount of crimes involving guns. Others argue that the crime rate would remain high and that guns hold a sense of protection.

Protection is the main reason that citizens say they have a firearm in their house. They state that they

The United States is the only country that has such a "free" or "open" gun policy and allows people to store guns in their house. This fact certainly causes more problems and a higher crime and murder rate as seen in Table 2.

The other countries that are shown in these charts have passed a law that is much stricter on the policy of guns then America is. These countries have seen a sudden drop in the amount of murders, homicides and suicides. No other country in the world comes close to the amount of deaths we have by guns in a year. The closest was Canada, which had 128, compared to the US's 13,320! We need to make a change in the Gun Control law now, less guns means less murders, which leads to less crime rate. That is what we need now in the present, not in the future when the numbers of deaths by a gun have climbed even higher!
