The Human Genome Project is a scientific effort to map all of the 100,000 genes on 23 human chromosomes. It is also to sequence the three billion DNA base pairs that make up these genes. The project began in 1990 and centered in the Unites States and France. It is based on the understandance of genetic diseases such as muscular dystrophy and Alzheimer's disease. It also helps gain insight on human evolution. The project is fifteen years, and three billion dollars worth. The project had focused efforts on the most important initial objectives.
