Skateboarding is not a crime
My mission for this paper is to change the city ordinance regarding skateboarding on public property, on the streets of our towns, and at local skatespots. I am trying to make an effort to allow the opportunity for anyone who enjoys skateboarding, to ride without getting a ticket for a law that hasn’t even been passed in most states or cities. I strive to stop the oppression of skateboarding with the creation of a united voice for all skateboarders and skateboard supporters. Skateboarding has rapidly become an illegal form of transportation throughout the country. In some towns/cities, it is illegal to even set a skateboard on the sidewalk. In other parts of the state you can ride on some sidewalks but not others, and definitely not in the bike lane, or in parking lots where rolerbladers and bicyclists are allowed. I feel that skateboarding is unfairly singled out. It is my hope to help increase societies’ awareness of this undue criticism, and the harassment the avera! In the eyes of many , a good kid is no longer that good kid when a skateboard enters his or her life. Therefore to be a skateboarder, one must be able to handle the criticism of his or her nation.
