The Great Gatsby and the American Dream The roaring twenties…wealthy gangsters, Rolls Royces, jazz bands; a guilded happiness. The American dream is the basis on what America was founded. (insert paper quote) According to this dream, you can start with nothing, work hard, and have everything in the end. The whole idea of social mobility is somewhat unheard-of in many other countries, thus making America the great country that it is.
