The Road Not Taken by Robert F

"The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost is told in a first person point of view, in which Frost is the speaker and on an early autumn morning, must choose between two forks in the road representing a path in the junction of his life. The exclamation mark after line 13 conveys excitement, but the excitement is under cut by his admission in the next two lines. He falsely comforts himself by saying he will "save the first for another day", but he knows that he will not cross this junction in his life again because he knows that "way leads on to way", and he will never have the opportunity to take the first road if he does not take it now.

I doubted if I should ever come back."
