ethnocentrism is thoroughly submerged in their minds. So I think that extensive research and or discussions is needed to gain more knowledge on why people act the way they do to certain things. Taking polls is not a bad idea at all. Maybe we can create polls on what people feel about something that certain cultures participate in (i.e. eating human flesh, stealing, celebrating the dead, etc...). Little group discussions can also be made so we can study how people react to the certain situations more in depth. We can find out what it is that prohibits people from accepting something that other people do. Because we must all learn to live together in more ways than one. To totally disrespect one's cultural acts will just drag us away from accomplishing this amazing challenge.

I have grown up in a culture where gay men were considered the "locals" of the place (or even the country for that matter). I grew up in the Philippine Islands in 1983 and have been exposed to many gay people since then.
