Childhood Agression

There are various theories on possible causes for childhood aggression, however it is a little more taxing to try and pinpoint a specific correlation with childhood aggression and murder. Originally, early psychological theories struggled with where aggression originated, whether it can be an instinctual force, biological force, or the result of society and survival. Initial beliefs varied from freus's belief that " Aggression was the primary response to the thwarting of pleasure seeking or pain avoiding behavior." to another popular view according to Bandura's book entitled Agression, was his own theory that while aggression itself might be innate, the behaviors associated with it could not be.

The current trends in childhooh aggression can be felt widely throughout different cultures and societies. There are more children exerting aggressive behavior today than in past history due to differences in many aspects of society and it's views. Aggression in today's society has been linked to many factors such as lax parenting, desensitization to violent behavior through the media, and chemical imbalance. These factors all have strong links to an aggressive child and the possibility of murder, however not in all ca


ses there are different levels at which these children display that aggression. Children with mild displays of aggression would not be categorized with those children who have uncontrollable outbursts of rage. It is this fine line that makes it difficult to pinpoint the children you have to keep a close watch over and those who will outgrow the aggression and go on to lead a more calm life.

ADDH which is characterized by unresponsiveness to affection, having a generally short attention span, low tolerance for frustration, and both a restless amount of physical energy and anti-social personality disorder in later life. ADDH is aproximately six to nine times more common in males than in females. Anti-social disorder is the most distinguished characteristic associated with murderers psychological state. According to Folino's study of sixteen different murderers an Axis II diagnosis was reached in 75% of those cases, with anti-social behavior being predominant. Children diagnosed with having ADDH, have a significantly higher risk for the development of socially aggressive behavior, oppositional defiant disorder, and conduct disorder. " Its is often the case that the family members of children with ADDH also have high levels of aggressiveness".
