The High Renaissance period started from 1500¯s and ended 1530 and Mannerist style starts right after High Renaissance and ended in 1600¯s. High renaissance and Mannerist style don¯t have that much time difference but still those styles of artworks have very different characteristic. The characteristics of High Renaissance styles are deep illusion of space, and also enough space allowed to figures in picture. In mannerists style artist didn¯t give much space to figures in artwork. Figures usually cut off from the picture and the space seemed very confusing. Figures also pushed out to foreground often times. This made figures look very uncomfortable. In high Renaissance artwork you could fine very good quality of chiaroscuro, too. Bassano used the chiaroscuro but it was not as good as Raphael did. The figures of Raphael¯s artwork look more realistic than Bassano¯s figures. The one light source used on both artworks. Raffaelo Samzio was the full name for Raphael . He was born in Urbino in 1483. He received first training for art from his father. His father was a artist, too. At age of seventeen his father send him to Perugino for more art training. In his early years he had influenced by his teacher. The characteristics for his early work were clear organization of composition and details. In 1504 he went to Florence and he learned new techniques from leonardo and michelangel. He got introduced to the Pop and he painted fresco for the Pop. He did many frescoes and oil painting. Specially he painted many cMadonna and child¯. The work I discussed on this paper was his early Madonna and child because of period of time it was painted was 1503.
