Educated
A detailed Summary of Educated
Educated has many different meanings. With so many explanations, it is hard to decipher which is the true definition of the word. According to the Oxford Essential Dictionary educated is defined as having had a good education. What is a good education? Is a good education only obtained from an Ivy League school or could it be acquired from a local community college? Education is known to be courses such as math, English, history, and much more. People that master these subjects throughout their lives do not always turn out to be educated. To be educated is defined differently by different people. What is educated for the American society is not necessarily educated for those that live in a different country on the opposite side of the world. There are many aspects of life that require knowledge. There are situations in life that need outside knowledge, knowledge that was never taught in school. To be educated, one must obtain a simple education, outside knowledge of the world, and have social skills to communicate with others.
It is not necessary to have a diploma from Harvard or Yale to be called educated. A diploma from a small community college can be awarded to a student that holds just as much know

To be educated, there is also the need to communicate with others. Without the interaction of people, the world could not go on. This is why it is very important for people to work together. A person may be extremely intelligent but could not handle any kind of socialization. All the brilliance of that person would be wasted because it could not be shared and expanded into a greater understanding.
A person must have a general education, social skills, and common sense to be recognized as an educated person. Unfortunately, the image of an educated person in the American society is someone that has a college degree from an Ivy League school such as Harvard or Yale. In actuality, a person without a college degree can be just as valuable to the world as a person with the college degree. To be educated, a person must be well rounded not only in subjects but also in the worldly knowledge around him or her. An educated person not only knows one thing really well but also has a broad knowledge of all aspects of life. As my dad says, "An educated person is someone that can be put anywhere and can survive in that environment with other people." That is what it all basically comes down to. If a person can live life with their general knowledge of how things work, can work with others, and can keep him or her working, then that person is educated.
The ability that gets a person through each day categorizes that person as educated. Outside street smarts is a term that also can be identified as educated. A person can be an expert on all the disciplines of the world but still can not be defined as educated. The simple explanation of that is he or she lacks common sense. Common sense is a general knowledge of everything around someone in his or her environment. It is a vital part of life. There is no way a person can
