my self as a reeader and writer
A detailed Summary of my self as a reeader and writer
Since entering this journey of reading and writing, I find myself in an empty world of language. My lack of experience in reading and writing has caused me great fear in many of my English classes. It is the only vulnerable area in my otherwise indomitable academic shield. I don't really enjoy writing; I have like reading even less. Other than an occasional magazine, I really don't remember the last thing I've read since Lord of the Flies, in my junior year of high school English. I never read in the past, not in middle school, not in high school. Now this writing assignment confronts me with a great task: a formal paper, I haven't written a formal paper since senior year. I feel like an old snow blower that has been put away until the winter and is being taken out for the first snow.
All the educational influences I have had in my life, from teachers to my parents have told me I have great potential and that I am very smart. In all my other subjects I excel, in science, math and history, for example. I attack these subjects like a dog after his bone, but when it comes to writing, I shy away and put my tail between my legs and hide. In my eyes writing is a useless hassle; it frustrates me. I don't honestly enjoy writing; I find

When I start my paper and get that first sentence down, writing seems like a piece of cake, but then I start to slow. Ideas and thoughts about how I want to say something are racing in my head, but I can't get them down fast enough. Then I lose the idea. I learned the concept of brainstorming and find it to be a big help in writing. It helps me organize and get my thoughts and ideas on paper, this helps keep me on task and starts me off on the right foot with my paper. But when I actually begin to write the essay, it's like I've hit a brick wall! I'm stuck. While I'm thinking of things to write, I seem to lose my train of thought, I start thinking about other things going on around me or about what I have to do in a different class. I seem to think of excuses why I can't write it now or why I can stop. For example, when I was in high school. I was asked to write a one-page paper on anything I wanted. It took me almost a full day to write that paper because I just kept on putting it off to do something else, (eat, swim, or watch television). Basically, I did anything I could to avoid writing that paper. It wasn't even a hard paper, it's just that I didn't want to write it. When I did try to write it, I got stuck and I decided to do something else. Finally, I finished the paper at 2 in the morning and was to tired to go to school the next day and missed the class. Despite my procrastination, I have been able to get work done on time. It is a struggle, however, to get up the next morning, When I have been up all night working. Contrary to this I do have my times of excellence, although they are few and far between, I simply have to be in the right frame of mind to finish a paper.
it to be boring, stressful and a waste of effort. On the other hand writing does bring you later success in life and makes you a more intellectual person. It brings you a greater knowledge of a variety of subjects and areas. As of now, I don't seem to find pleasure or meaning in writing assignments besides the fact it was assigned. I have stayed away from classes with a lot of reading and writing and have spent my energy on subjects in which I excel.
During my many years of education I seem to have slipped through the reading and writing cracks. This slip has plagued me since I stopped reading in junior high school; it has caused me to fall behind in classes where a lot of reading and writing is requi
