Teenagers in the U.S. often spend substantial amounts of money every year. Teens buy clothes, food, etc. every day. Many get money from their parents but some work for it. 22% of most teens work in food service. 16% of them you can find doing odd jobs like baby-sitting, yard work, walking a dog, etc. 12% doing manual labor like construction. 8% of teens work as stork clerks or as cashiers. 6% have newspaper routes, 5% do office work and 4% work in retail. For those teenagers that do work, on average, they work around 15 hours per week and earn about $5.25 an hour, with boys earning slightly more than girls ($5.50 vs. $5.15). Child Labor Laws regulates that 14 to 15 year olds only work between 7AM to 7PM during the school year and between 7AM to 9PM during the summer. Laws also state that teens can only work a maximum amount of 18 hours a week, 3 hours on school
