Beastie Boys
Many bands have become true leaders in their time. In November of 1999, the Beastie Boys came out with a compilation of some of their best music. All the songs ranged from music out of their punk rock days to when they owned a major recording company to the present. The Beastie Boys are influential and cutting edge "scientists of sound" in every aspect, proving so in their unique beats, music, lyrics, and actions. The Beastie Boys' music has always been presented to such an array of audiences and in different styles, allowing them to touch on certain issues not mentioned as often in the music business. "'What makes us significant is that we're a white rap group, and we're performing for this audience that's never seen people like us'-Mike D, 1987" ( Heatley, pg. 45). Their presentation of topic has been the thing that has sold so many records for them.
