The Clockwork Orange

In the novel A Clockwork Orange, Anthony Burgess, author of the book, has tried to show the importance of individual freedom over doing the right thing. He has shown extreme acts of violence in the book to show his strong belief.

Alex, the main charater, and his droogs; Georgie, Dim, and Pete are the main characters in a novel that is set in the foreseeable future. In this future, there are few police officers and too much crime. At night, people just lock their doors and pray that a gang of hoodlums doesn’t attack them and their family during the night. Alex and his droogs are one of these gangs. His gang hangs out at a place called the Korova Milkbar and then proceeds to go on nightly rampages through the streets of London. Their crimes consist of beating the elderly, murder, and raping women. This is a nightly event for Alex and his droogs; however, they have never been caught.
