William Shakespeare?s Hamlet is a tale that has been told for over 400 years. The meaning of the play relies heavily on Hamlet?s soliloquies. Without these soliloquies, the scenes of Hamlet alone, would be useless. By allowing the audience to ?hear? hamlet think, it is much easier to interpret his feelings.Hamlet's first soliloquy (I,ii) is important to the play as it shows his inner conflict caused by the events of the play. It reveals his true feelings and as such emphasizes the difference between his physical appearance, and his feelings within himself. His mother's marriage to his uncle is the reason for Hamlet?s despair. His constant repetition of the time in which it took the two to get married, "But two months dead?yet within a month?A little month?Within a month?most wicked speed?"
